Treasure of my work as a motion designer

As a motion designer with almost two decades of experience, I am constantly inspired by the projects that I work on, particularly those that have a deeper meaning and purpose. In addition to commercial work, I have had the opportunity to work on personal projects that have moved me and brought me joy.

Recently, I had the chance to collaborate with my eldest child on a special project. He was going to Spain to do a volunteering project for ten months, and as part of his assignment, he needed to present his reasons for joining the project in a creative way. I was able to help him create a motion design video where he provided the voice-over and gave me the direction and graphics needed to bring the animation to life. It was a truly fulfilling experience and one that I will always treasure as a motion designer.

Here are some render frames.

Here is the video:

Story of a photo

Every year I have the honor to create visual campaigns for Red Cross Fundraising Event.

This year is the Roaring Twenties theme. Every year I challenge myself to come up with original and engaging ideas.

I had in my mind from the moment we discussed this year’s theme what I wanted the main image to be.

I explained to Indra Pereira, Red Cross Aruba PR and Marketing Manager, that I wanted to recreate the classic 1920s look.

As a photographer, I try to challenge my work to have the best results I can get. For this reason, I also took care of the wardrobe, and not only did I want to have a say on the type of dress, but I also wanted to do it myself.

I went to our local fabrics store for a fabric that looked good, under the lighting conditions intended to use a resemblance to the 20’s era.

Luckily I found a lovely fabric with the guidance of the store salesperson also bought a few pearls to make a collar and writs band. I found an elastic band for her head as part of the design.

A lovely lady Ada helped me with the sewing since my time constraints were too much for me to undertake this task.

One part of my photo was a specific makeup. I know Francis Rodriguez from SFX Aruba will make my work easier. I’ve been working alongside Francis for many projects now, each time results scream professionalism and art.

The model from the start was set the very first time we discussed the theme Lizmarie Kranwinkel was chosen for the role. She has a nostalgic look that was perfect for the photo.

My lighting setup was simple, a couple of Godox SL60W LED lights, one with a snoot and the other with a 7-inch dish. The one with a snoot illuminates her eyes and the other to rim her hair.

My camera setup was a Sony A6400 with a 90mm Macro lens this particular lens is so sharp that I only use it with people with good skin texture.

The camera was set on a tripod. My camera settings S1/50 F2.8 Iso 100. I used a slower shutter speed since I was using continuous light. I’ve set the profile to black and white since it gives me a closer preview of my final look. I shot RAW. I knew it was only for the preview if my client decided to have a color version.

I then went to create in Capture One Pro my black and white look and exported the results to Affinity designer to create the artwork that will be used in the campaign. Different orientations and sizes are needed each year to accommodate the promotional material.

I truly enjoyed this process. I have planned to take this new level of detail and control in my workflow. I’ve learned a lot when researching the lighting conditions and the type of dresses and makeup used in that era.

If you are in Aruba this June 11, join this fundraising event to help raise funds for Red Cross Aruba so they can keep helping the community.

I wanted to give you a huge thanks for reading to this point.

A project that made my day as a 3D artist.

I was approached by a client with a special request.

He wanted to know if I would help with a very particular task. He then explained that a dear friend had lost a 20-year-old ring that had a great sentimental value.

They wanted to know if I could enhance an old couple of photos to see clearly the ring. She contacted the jeweler to make a new one but he couldn’t see the features to recreate the ring.

I told them that there was no resolution for any enhancement since they were printed photos, 6X4 to be exact.

I had another idea that if I could interview his friend, maybe she could give me a better “picture” of the ring, and ill try to draw it and then 3D model it.

Here you can see the 3D model I made.

Plot twist

The owner of the ring told me that she went to sleep looking at the renders I made and that she dreamed that she found the ring in her garden where she lost it.

In the morning, she went to the garden to look at the place she dreamed about it, sure enough, there it was!

You can see a high-resolution photo, not exactly the same still happy with the ending of this project.

Black Friday at JacedWheels

Black Friday Madness

It’s no surprise that this holiday is a very commercial one.
I try to help maximize the returns of my client’s sales during these hectic days.

For JacedWheels, I did a series of offers with video productions, either with 3D animations, 2D motion graphics, or videos and photos.

The first video was a 3D animation to help promote the neon lights underbody kits.

The second one was for an oil change service. I use a combination of stock videos to get the message across with a 3D render.

The third video is a combination of stock footage and photography of the products.

The fourth one was the combination of 3D and motion graphics also I did use existing photographs to promote better the message.

Red Cross Fundraising Event

Red Cross Aruba hosts a yearly fundraising event

For me is a pleasure to be part of this event and help where it makes a real difference.

I had the privilege to get creative control, a very daunting task, relying on past designs and keeping myself under their guidelines.

I created this year’s vintage-style theme due to the historic building named Quinta del Carmen.

I made the deliverables for social media, posters, and videos assets as part of this campaign and, a silent auction page with articles to bid on them was also made.

The photography and videography work was a crucial part of making this design.

One Healthy Day Video production

One Healthy Day

Video production project

I was approached by Hans, owner of One Happy Bowl, to be part of his project One Healthy Day, a sporting event that will take place next year on March 20th. The idea is to help the citizens of Aruba to move and be more healthy, with the collaboration of almost all the sports clubs and other health trainers.

It was a week of video production shooting with the ambassadors around the island they will carry the message to promote the event. They range from sports personalities as well as public figures.

3 Days were necessary to edit, color correct, audio edit, and motion graphics to finish five video pieces.

I want to invite you to see the videos and go to https://onehealthyyouaruba.com/events/one-healthy-day/ to get involved and see how you can be part of this amazing event.
